Why Every Arizona Driver Should Have a Dashcam

If we could give every Arizona driver one piece of advice, it would be this: buy a dashcam. A $50-100 camera mounted on your windshield can be the single most powerful piece of evidence in a car accident case.

Why Dashcams Matter

Car accident claims often come down to “he said, she said.” The other driver tells one story. You tell another. The police report may or may not be accurate. Without video evidence, the insurance company splits the difference — and your recovery suffers.

A dashcam eliminates the dispute. It shows exactly what happened, from what angle, at what speed, and — critically — what the other driver was doing.

What Dashcams Capture

Red-light runners, lane changers who cut you off, hit-and-run vehicles (often capturing the license plate), the other driver on their phone, road conditions and visibility, and the moment of impact and everything leading up to it.

What to Look For

Front and rear cameras. You want to capture what’s ahead and what’s behind — rear-end collisions need rear footage. Loop recording. The camera continuously records, overwriting old footage. Parking mode. Activates when the car is parked and detects impact — catches parking lot hit-and-runs. GPS. Records your speed and location — proving you weren’t speeding.

Arizona is a one-party consent state for audio recording, so recording inside your own car is legal. Dashcam footage is admissible evidence. If the footage helps your case, your attorney will present it. If it hurts your case — say, it shows you were speeding — the other side can subpoena it.

Invest in a dashcam today. It’s the cheapest insurance you’ll ever buy. And if you’ve got footage of an accident, call the Law Badgers at (833) DTF-IGHT.
